Madison, NJ- In its first team meet of the year, the Denison women's fencing team finished its weekend at the Drew Invitational with a 9-2 record. Across the weekend, the Big Red defeated four Division I teams: Lafayette, Long Island University, NJIT, and Wagner College.

Drew Invitational-Day One (11/1/2025)
Denison women's fencing finished day one of the Drew Invitational with a record of 5-1, beating Haverford 25-2, Division I New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) 22-5, Drew University 24-3, and in a tightly contested matchup against No. 4 Wellesley, the Big Red came out on top 16-11. Denison's lone team loss of the day was against No. 11 Division I Cornell, by a score of 19-8.
Heading into this weekend the Pre-Season Coaches Poll was released and put Denison Women's Fencing as No. 3 on the Division III poll. The top five were NYU, Johns Hopkins, Denison, Wellesley, and M.I.T.
Highlights from Day One
The sabre squad had a close match with No. 11 Cornell, ultimately falling to Cornell 5-4. When the Big Red faced Wellesley, it was the lone top-five matchup amongst the competing Division III institutions, which solidified Denison's belonging at the top of the coaches poll rankings. It was a team effort victory over Wellesley, with sabre leading the way with a 7-2 squad result. In foil the Big Red came out on top 6-3, and epee fell to Wellesley 6-3.
Drew Invitational Day Two (11/2/2025)
Denison women's fencing continued its day one success on day two of the Drew Invitational, this time in a pool of 13 teams and more Division I institutions. The Big Red went 4-1, starting the day with a pair of wins over Division I Long Island University (20-7) and No. 8 in Division III Stevens Institute of Technology (22-5). After a short break, Denison faced off with No. 2 Division III Johns Hopkins University. It was a nailbiter that went back and forth, with the foil squad leading the way with a 6-3 record. However, the Big Red ultimately fell 13-14 to the Blue Jays.
Denison would bounce back in style, though, ending the day with two big wins over two Division I opponents--Lafayette College (24-3) and Wagner College (18-9).
Highlights from Day Two
Foil fencer, junior Lal Ertün, was named MVP on the weekend with an incredible 28-2 record (93% win rate). Other outstanding performances came from senior Delaney Brown in sabre with a 21-6 record and freshman Tessa Randleman in epee with a 20-10 record.
