POWELL, Ohio (Oct. 4) – The Denison University men's cross country team returned to competition Friday evening and finished in 10th place in the team standings at the Ohio Wesleyan University Invitational. The event was held at Liberty Park in Powell, Ohio.
A pair of seniors,
Nathan Bertman and
Nico Martinelli, battled it out for the spot as Denison's top finisher. Bertman narrowly topped Martinelli. Bertman had a time of 27:11.1 while Martinelli came in at 27:11.4. They finished 46th and 47th, respectively.
First-year
Phinnigan Spindler timed in at with a season-best time of 27:14.1 to come in 52nd place at the 8K event.
Two more rookie runners came in next for Denison, as
Zachary Perlman finished 77th with a season-best time of 27:41.3 while
Hudson Jones clocked in at a season-best time of 27:50.0.
Senior
William Allain and sophomore
Drew Carpenter finished with respective times of 28:16.3 and 28:30.1 to round out the top seven for the Big Red.
Denison returns to competition at the Connecticut College Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 19.
