GRANVILLE, Ohio (Oct. 26) – The Denison University women's swimming team fell by a 144-118 score to Division I Xavier University Saturday afternoon in the first home action of the 2024-25 season.
There were no diving events held during this dual meet. Denison picked up wins in four events as
Jassy Park and
Quinn Brown secured two wins apiece to lead the way.
Park,
Drue Thielking,
Amber Croonquist and
Maddie Schaefer finished second in the 200 Medley Relay to open the meet. The quartet put together a time of 1:44.73.
Brown gave Denison its first victory of the meet in the 1000 Free. Brown posted a time of 10:15.95 to put her more than 20 seconds faster than the next swimmer.
Park earned the victory in the 100 Back. Her NCAA B Cut time of 56.17 put her more than two seconds faster than the next closest competitor.
Thielking placed second in the 100 Breaststroke. The junior came in with a time of 1:04.91.
Riley Tofflemire finished third with a time of 1:05.93 in the event.
Emma Pritchett finished as the runner up in the 200 Fly. Pritchett posted a time of 2:09.08.
Croonquist and Schaefer went 2-3 in the 50 Free. They posted respective times of 24.27 and 24.35 in the event.
Emily Harris finished second in the 100 Free with a time of 53.74. Harris finished third in the 200 Free, earlier in the day, with a time of 1:54.00.
Olivia Morse was third in the 100 Free with a time of 53.80.
Park's strong day continued in the 200 Back, as a time of 2:06.87 gave her another first place finish. Pritchett and
Caroline Ramirez finished second and third, respectively, in the 200 Back.
Thielking and Tofflemire were second and third in the 200 Breaststroke. Thielking posted a time of 2:20.73 while Tofflemire came in at 2:25.57.
Brown picked up her second win of the day when she came in first in the 500 Free. Brown posted an NCAA B Cut time of 4:58.51 to pace all swimmers in the event.
Denison had swimmers finish second and third in the 100 Fly. Pritchett was second at 57.02 while Croonquist was third at 57.41.
Thielking secured second in the 200 IM with a time of 2:10.15.
Denison's top team in the 200 Free Relay consisted of Croonquist, Schaefer, Ramirez and
Grace Kadlecik. The group compiled a time of 1:36.08.
Fourth-ranked Denison travels to top-ranked Kenyon for their annual meet on Saturday, Nov. 9. Start time is scheduled for 10 a.m. in Gambier.
