GRANVILLE, Ohio (Oct. 26) – The Denison University men's swimming team posted a dominant 173-84 win over Division I Xavier University in the first home action of the season at the Trumbull Aquatics Center.
Denison secured the top time in 13 of the 14 events contested on Saturday. There were no diving events held during this dual meet.
Denison opened with a victory in the 200 Medley Relay. The team of
Jack Hill,
Patrick Daly,
Christian Narcelles and
Nick Hensel raced to a time of 1:30.70 to secure the win.
The Big Red finished in the top three spots of the 1000 Free.
Lucas Conrads paced the efforts with a time of 9:43.50.
George Goins and
Tyler Distenfeld finished second and third, respectively, with times of 9:45.25 and 9:45.70.
Cameron Noble placed first in the 200 Free. Noble came in with a time of 1:41.85. Cameron McIntire finished third in the event by timing in at 1:43.41.
Denison finished in the top three spots of the 100 Back. Hill clocked in at 50.54 while
Devin Testin was second (51.55) and
Luke Swiggett was third (52.13).
Daly won the race to the finish in the 100 Breaststroke. Daly clocked in at 56.30 to take the top spot.
Teak Rommaneekochchakorn was third with a time of 57.14.
Max Lough and
Dylan Escano finished second and third, respectively, in the 200 Fly.
Hensel took first in the 50 Free with a time of 20.66. His teammate,
Benjamin Coverdale, was the runner up with a time of 21.24.
Hensel added another first place finish. This time he took first in the 100 Free by posting a time of 45.63. The Big Red took the top four spots in the event.
Jack Hill was second with a time of 46.20.
Testin gave Denison the victory in the 200 Back. He posted a time of 1:54.69 while Swiggett was second (1:54.92) and
Marshall Pifer finished third (1:56.06).
Rommaneekochchakorn picked up a win of his own in the 200 Breaststroke. He narrowly touched the wall in front of the next closest competitor. Rommaneekochchakorn won with a time of 2:06.38.
McIntire secured the win for Denison in the 500 Free. He logged a time of 4:36.40 to take the top spot. Conrads was the runner up with a time of 4:44.00.
Narcelles touched the wall with a time of 50.76 to place first in the 100 Fly. Escano was second at 51.07 and
Max Lough was third at 51.39.
Daly posted the top time in the 200 IM at 1:52.81.
Denison capped the meet with the top time in the 200 Free Relay. Hensel, Coverdale, Noble and Hill timed in at 1:22.27.
Up Next: Eighth-ranked Denison returns to action when they travel to fourth-ranked Kenyon College on Saturday, Nov. 9 for their annual meet. Start time is scheduled for 10 a.m. in Gambier.
