COLUMBUS, Ohio (Oct. 25) – The Denison University swimming and diving team, ranked fourth in the most recent Division III poll by College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America, fell by a 180-115 score at the Ohio State University in competition Friday evening at McCorckle Aquatic Pavilion. The Buckeyes came into Friday's meet ranked 11th in the CSCAA Division I poll.
This was the 14th straight season that Ohio State has hosted the Denison women in a dual meet on the Ohio State campus.
The evening opened with the 200 Medley Relay. Denison's top team finished in fourth place. The quartet of
Jassy Park,
Drue Thielking,
Phoebe Ferguson and
Amber Croonquist timed in at 1:45.21 in the event.
Quinn Brown scored with a fourth-place finish in the 500 Free. Brown touched the wall with a time of 5:01.25.
In the 200 Free,
Emily Harris logged a time of 1:54.15 to finish in fourth place. Harris later added a fourth-place finish in the 100 Free, with a time of 53.73.
Timing in at 26.72, Park paced the Big Red with a fifth-place effort in the 50 Back. Park later finished fourth with a time of 56.90 in the 100 Back.
Riley Tofflemire and Thielking paced the Big Red in the 50 Breaststroke. Tofflemire finished as the runner up with a time of 29.70 while Thielking was fourth at 30.04.
Two members of the Big Red were in the top five in the 100 Fly.
Emma Pritchett finished fourth at 57.11 while Ferguson came in fifth with a time of 57.90.
Maddie Schaefer had the top Denison time in the 50 Free. Schaefer came in fifth place at 24.45.
Alexis Radhakrishnan finished fourth in the 3-Meter Dives with a score of 242.85.
Lu-Si Minnich logged a score of 235.80 to come in fifth in the event.
Thielking and Tofflemire led the way for Denison in the 100 Breaststroke. Thielking touched with a time of 1:05.02 while Tofflemire clocked in at 1:05.69.
Brown posted the top time in the 300 Free with a time of 2:57.92.
Maja Palmroos led Denison in the in the 50 Fly with a time of 26.11.
Minnich had Denison's top score in the One-Meter Dives. The junior totaled a score of 208.65.
Ferguson had Denison's best time in the 100 IM. Ferguson timed in at 59.58 in the event.
The evening closed with the 200 Free Relay. The team of Croonquist, Schaefer,
Grace Kadlecik and Ferguson posted Denison's best time at 1:37.47.
Up Next: Denison returns to competition tomorrow (Saturday, Oct. 26) when they host Division I Xavier University at Trumbull Aquatics Center. The meet will start at 1 p.m.
