AKRON, Ohio (Oct. 12) -- The Denison University men's swimming and diving team concluded its season-opening participation in the Akron University Zips Classic with two sessions on Saturday.
Competing against three Division I opponents, Denison finished with 517 team points at the event.
Saturday kicked off with the 200 Free Relay. The top group for Denison finished in sixth place.
Phoebe Ferguson,
Amber Croonquist,
Maddie Schaefer and
Grace Kadlecik compiled a time of 1:36.78 to pace Denison's efforts in the event.
Courtney McKeown finished 10th in the 400 IM. McKeown logged a time of 4:51.80.
Croomquist touched the wall at 57.05 in the 100 Fly. Ferguson was 10th with a time of 57.19.
Emily Harris and
Quinn Brown finished seventh and eighth, respectively, in the 200 Free. Harris clocked in at 1:53.77 while Brown recorded a time of 1:54.21.
In the 100 Breaststroke, Thielking finished 10th with a time of 1:05.45.
Riley Tofflemire was 12th with a time of 1:05.59.
Jasssy Park came in fifth in the 100 Back (57.21).
Kerstyn Johnson and
Lu-Si Minnich recorded scores of 223.80 and 223.10 in the 3-Meter Dives. They were eighth and ninth in the event.
The top finishing team in the 200 Medley Relay came in sixth place. Park, Thielking, Ferguson and Croonquist timed in at 1:45.24.
Brown timed in at 17:26.58 to finish sixth in the 1650 Free.
Denison had three finished in the top 12 of the 200 Back. Park tied for ninth (2:07.26) while
Emma Pritchett (2:09.68) was 11th and
Caroline Ramirez (2:10.55) finished 12th.
Thielking was Denison's highest finisher in 200 Breast. She logged a time of 2:20.75 to finish seventh.
Harris finished fifth in the 200 Fly with a time of 2:05.29.
The Big Red return to competition at the Ohio State University on Friday, Oct. 25. The event, which will be held at McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion, will start at 5 p.m.
