MOUNT BERRY, Ga. (Oct. 13) – A memorable week for the Denison University men's tennis program concluded Sunday at the 2024 ITA Cup at the Rome Tennis Center in Georgia.
Aiming to become Denison's first-ever individual ITA Cup champion,
Ethan Green fell by a 6-4, 7-5 score to top-seeded Advik Mareedu of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. Mareedu won three of his four matches in straight sets in his path to the title.
Green concluded the tournament with a 3-1 record. He became the first Denison men's tennis player to advance to the semifinals let alone the championship match at the ITA Cup.
Green teamed up with
Kael Shah in the doubles finals. The tandem faced off with Alex Ganchev and Sacha Maes of Tufs University. They dropped the decision by a 7-6 (7-3) and 7-5 despite two highly competitive sets.
They finished with a 3-1 mark at the championships.
Despite the championship match setbacks, it was a historical week for the Denison men's tennis program. Green became the first team member to reach the ITA Cup singles championship. Additionally, Green/Shah became the first Denison doubles team to reach the ITA Cup championship.
