AKRON, Ohio – Competing against three Division I schools, the Denison University women's swimming and diving team opened the 2024-25 season with the opening session of the Akron University Zips Classic.
The 400 Medley Relay team kicked things off with a sixth-place finish. The team of
Jassy Park,
Drue Thielking,
Amber Croonquist and
Phoebe Ferguson combined for a time of 3:51.16.
Quinn Brown swam to a fifth-place effort in the 500 Freestyle, with a time of 5:01.68.
Emily Harris finished ninth in the event at 5:04.15.
Ferguson and Thielking finished 10th and 15th, respectively, in the 200 IM. Ferguson logged a time of 2:08.81 while Thielking touched the wall at 2:10.44.
Croomquist and
Maddie Schaefer scored in the 50 Free. Croomquist finished with a time of 24.36 and Schaefer came in at 24.62.
Brown, Ferguson,
Avery Vogen and Harris finished ninth in the 800 Free Relay. The group amassed a time of 7:44.11.
Lu-Si Minnich led the Denison divers with an eighth place. Minnich totaled a score of 206.65.
The Big Red totaled 168 points during Friday's session.
The Zips Classic continues Saturday, Oct. 12 with sessions at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.
