GREENCASTLE, Ind. (April 28, 2023) – The top-seeded Denison University men's tennis team played in the opening match of the 2023 North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament and earned a 5-0 sweep over eighth-seeded Wittenberg University on Friday at DePauw University.

Denison 5, Wittenberg 0:
Doubles

• Denison swept doubles with three very similar matches as Ethan Green and Kael Shah won 8-3 at No. 1 doubles and Jack Bulger and Colin Gramley also won 8-3 at No. 2 doubles.
• Meanwhile, at No. 3 doubles, Zachary Portnoy and Daniel Garcia were 8-2 winners.

Singles

• Jacob Patterson won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2 singles.
• Andreas Chapides won 6-3, 6-0 at No. 5 singles to end it.

 
Record Book Watch:

• Denison improves to 23-3 overall on the season, matching its program record of 23 wins (23-4) set just last season.
• Before that, Denison's previous record was set in 1997 when the Big Red finished 22-4 and were 13th at nationals.

Next Up: Denison will take on fifth-seeded Wabash College in the NCAC semifinals starting at 12 p.m. tomorrow (April 29). The other semifinal match will feature second-seeded Kenyon College vs. third-seeded DePauw University at 3 p.m.
