GRANVILLE, Ohio (April 1, 2023) – The No. 22-ranked Denison University women's tennis team finished off its opening weekend of April with a 9-0 sweep at home over Ohio Wesleyan University to improve to 3-0 so far this season in the North Coast Athletic Conference. Denison also improved to 12-4 overall while OWU fell to 9-4 and 0-2.
In doubles,
Monique Brual and
Caroline Lopez got things started with an 8-0 sweep over Kaitlyn Quinn and Emma Zajac in the two spot.
Then both
Sarah Robertson and
Sydney Cianciola (No. 1 doubles) and
Peyton Oda and
Kendall Schrader (No. 3 doubles) won by scores of 8-2.
The first singles win went to
Sofia Zafiropulos with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Zajac in the four spot while
Caroline Kittle won 6-2, 6-0 over Quinn at No. 3 singles.
Lopez won 6-1, 7-5 over Shanzay Ali at No. 2 singles before Robertson won 6-2, 6-0 over Katie Lee in the top spot, and then the final two matches went to
Anna Leach (No. 5 singles) and
Alessandra Ceccarelli (No. 6 singles), both by scores of 6-0, 6-0.
Next up, Denison will host its fourth match in a row as the Big Red take on the College of Wooster starting at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, April 7.
