GRANVILLE, Ohio (April 2, 2023) – The No. 14 Denison University men's tennis team swept three straight matches on Sunday to improve to 18-3 overall on the season. The Big Red started the day with a win over Ohio Wesleyan University to improve to 3-0 in North Coast Athletic Conference action before picking up nonconference wins over Otterbein University and Capital University to round out the long day.
Anthony Payiavlas and
Zachary Portnoy were both a combined 4-0 on the day (2-0 in both singles and doubles) while
Kael Shah was 3-0 in singles.

Singles
- Green won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4 singles while Andreas Chapides (No. 2 singles) and Shah (No. 1 singles) both won by scores of 6-1, 6-0.
- Payiavlas won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3 singles, Colin Gramley won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 singles, and Ozmo finished it off with a 6-0, 6-0 win in the six hole.

Doubles
- The Big Red then moved to the outdoor courts to take on the Cardinals as Green and Camden French paired up for an 8-0 victory at No. 2 doubles while and Andy Mackler and Portnoy won 8-1 in the third position.
- At No. 1 doubles, Bulger and Payiavlas won by a score of 8-5.
Singles
- French won 6-0, 6-1 in the six hole and Bulger won 6-1, 6-1 in the top spot.
- Portnoy (No. 5 singles) and Mackler (No. 4 singles) both won by scores of 6-2, 6-0.
- Jacob Patterson earned a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles before Shah won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 singles.

- In the final match of the day, Denison moved back inside the Mitchell Fieldhouse and saw Gramley and Chapides (No. 1 doubles), Turner and Portnoy (No. 2 doubles) and Ozmo and Jones (No. 3 doubles) all win by a score of 8-0.
Singles
- Portnoy (No. 3 singles) and Payiavlas (No. 4 singles) both won 6-0, 6-0 while Shah won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles and Chapides was victorious 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 singles.
- The long day wrapped up with Daniel Garcia winning 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 singles and Turner earning a 6-1, 6-1 win in the six spot.
Next Up: Denison will play at Oberlin College starting at 12 p.m. on Saturday, April 8, before hosting the College of Wooster in its final home match of the season at 12 p.m. on Sunday, April 9.
