GRANVILLE, Ohio (March 27, 2023) – The Denison University men's and women's track & field teams earned a combined four North Coast Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week awards for the week ending on Sunday, March 26.
Ari Skolnik was named the Men's Sprints/Hurdles Athlete of the Week and
Andrew D'Asaro earned Men's Field Athlete of the Week while on the women's side,
Sophia Ellerkmann was the Women's Sprints/Hurdles Athlete of the Week and
Erin Anderson was named Women's Distance/Mid-Distance Athlete of the Week.
Ari Skolnik, a sophomore hurdler from Glencoe, Illinois, finished in third place in the 110 meter hurdle finals with a new personal record of 15.10 seconds at the Emory Thrills in the Hills Open. His time ranks first in the NCAC and is tied for 16th in Division III so far this season. Skolnik also ran the first leg of Denison's 4x100 meter relay team that finished in fifth place with a time of 42.53 seconds, which is tied for 24th in DIII.
Andrew D'Asaro, a sophomore thrower from Downingtown, Pennsylvania, finished in second place in the javelin at 51.72 meters at Emory. D'Asaro's throw in the javelin is ranked first in the NCAC and 29th in Division III.
Sophia Ellerkmann, a junior sprinter from Baltimore, Maryland, earned a sixth-place finish with a personal-best time of 1:00.00 in the 400 meter dash at Emory. Her time in the 400 is ranked first in the NCAC and 36th in DIII. Ellerkamann also ran the first leg of Denison's 4x400 meter relay team that finished in fifth place with a time of 4:08.47, which is a top time in the NCAC and 25th in DIII.
Erin Anderson, a senior mid-distance runner from Elmhurst, Illinois, earned a sixth-place finish with a time of 2:18.01 in the 800 meter run and also helped Denison come in fifth place in the 4x400 meter relay (4:08.07) at Emory. Her time in the 800 is ranked first in the NCAC and 15th in Division III.
