DANVILLE, Ky. (February 18, 2023) – The No. 12 Denison University men's tennis team improved to 4-0 to start its 2023 season on Saturday. The Big Red first defeated host Centre College 8-1 in the morning before taking down Asbury University (Ky.) 9-0 in neutral-court action later on in the afternoon in Kentucky.

Doubles
Singles
- In singles, Kael Shah cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win in the No. 1 spot before Marc-Lennart Harms won 6-1, 7-5 in the No. 2 position.
- Then at No. 3 singles, Bulger cliched the win for the Big Red but had to battle to three sets to do so as earned a 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 comeback victory.
- Ethan Green then won 6-3, 6-0 at No. 4 singles, Daniel Garcia won 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 6 spot, and Andreas Chapides won 6-4, 6-0 at No. 5 singles.
Match #2 – No. 12 Denison 9, Asbury 0:
Doubles
- Denison swept the doubles action as Green and Camden French earned an 8-0 sweep at No. 3 doubles, followed by an 8-1 win by Patterson and Chapides at No. 2 doubles and an 8-4 win by Bulger and Harms in the top spot.
Singles
- The first singles win went to Green with a 7-5, 6-2 decision at No. 3 singles.
- Harms (7-5, 2-6, 6-1) and Patterson (5-7, 6-3, 6-0) both need three sets to earn the win at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively.
- Portnoy won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4 singles, and both Mackler and French were victorious by scores of 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively.
Records:
- Denison improves to 4-0 in 2023 while Centre falls to 0-4 and Asbury drops to 1-1.
- It was the first meeting between Denison and Centre since the 2020 season as the Big Red improved to 5-0 all-time against the Colonels.
- After a 9-0 win at home against Asbury last season, the Big Red are now 2-0 all-time against the Eagles.
Next Up: Denison will head to Indianapolis, Indiana, to take on the No. 1-ranked team in the country and the defending NCAA Division III Champions, the University of Chicago, at 1 p.m. on Sunday, February 19, at the Indianapolis Racquet Club's Dean Road location.
