GRANVILLE, Ohio (April 17, 2022) – The No. 13 Denison University men's tennis team wrapped up its 2022 regular-season with a pair of 9-0 wins over the College of Wooster and Oberlin College during what was also Senior Day for
Akshat Agarwal and
Tim Cianciola. In addition, junior
Marc-Lennart Harms broke the Denison men's tennis single-season record for singles wins with 22.

Doubles
Singles
- The singles matches also finished in perfect 1-2-3-4-5-6 order as Cianciola won 6-1, 6-2 in the top spot while Bulger clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-1 decision in the No. 2 position.
- Harms won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 3 singles, Mackler won 6-0, 7-5 in the four spot, and Milan Gonela and Nadeem Jones were both victorious by scores of 6-2, 6-0 at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively.

Doubles
- After the match against Wooster went 1-2-3 for doubles, the match against Oberlin went 3-2-1.
- Harms and Eason came out on top by a score of 8-1 at No. 3 doubles before Mackler and Gramley won 8-2 in the two spot and Cianciola and Bulger won 8-3 in the No. 1 position.
- Cianciola and Bulger finished the regular season 19-0 together, all at No. 1 doubles.
Singles
- Gramley started off the final round of singles matches in the regular season with a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles before Bulger won 6-2, 6-1 in the three spot to clinch it.
- Cianciola won 6-2, 6-3 in the top spot before Eason won without dropping a single game, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 4 singles.
- Daniel Garcia won 6-3, 6-1 at No. 5 singles, and then the regular season was closed out with a record-breaking 6-3, 6-2 win by Harms at No. 2 singles.
Senior Day:
- Akshat Agarwal is 7-6 in singles and 19-11 in doubles in his career. In both 2010-20 and 2020-21, he was named to the NCAC Academic Honor Roll and was recognized as an ITA Scholar-Athlete. He is a member of Denison's Chi Alpha Sigma Chapter and the Denison International Student Association.
- Tim Cianciola has posted a career record of 60-14 in singles and 65-19 in doubles, and in 2021, he was named an ITA Division III All-American, was the NCAC Player of the Year, and was a part of the NCAC Doubles Team of the Year with his partner Jack Bulger. He also earned a spot in the 2021 NCAA Division III Singles Championships, where he advanced to the Round of 16. A two-time first-team All-NCAC selection in both singles and doubles, he was also the 2019 NCAC Newcomer of the Year. Tim was also named to the NCAC Academic Honor Roll in both 2019-20 and 2020-21, and has been recognized as an ITA Scholar-Athlete three times. Tim is also a member of Denison's Chi Alpha Sigma Chapter and the pre-health honor society.
Team Records:
- Sunday's matches featured three teams ranked in the top-15 in the Central Region.
- No. 4 regionally-ranked Denison improved to 19-3, its most wins in a single season since 1998 when the Big Red had their best ever nationals finish of ninth place.
- No. 13 regionally-ranked Wooster fell to 11-7 overall and suffered its first road loss of the year at 3-1. The Big Red are now 25-0 against the Fighting Scots since the 2005 season.
- Lastly, No. 15 regionally-ranked Oberlin dropped to 6-12 overall. The Big Red are now 17-1 against the Yeomen since 2007-08.

Single-Season Singles Wins:
- Following his two singles win on Sunday, Marc-Lennart Harms now holds the Denison men's tennis single-season record for singles victories with a record of 22-7, breaking the previous record of 21 reached in both 2007 and 2010.
- Tim Cianciola is right behind Harms in singles wins this year with a record of 21-4, so it will be an interesting postseason to see who finishes as the new record holder.
Singles-Season Doubles Wins:
- Now with a combined doubles record of 23-2 on the season, Tim Cianciola has tied the Big Red's single-season record for doubles wins set in 2006.
- Right behind him, however, is Andy Mackler at 22-7 and Jack Bulger at 21-3.
Career Singles Wins:
- With a career singles record of 60-14, Tim Cianciola is tied for third on Denison's career singles wins list, and is only three away from the record of 63 set from 1996-99.
Next Up: Denison will host the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament starting on Friday, April 22, and running through Sunday, April 24. The Big Red's quarterfinal matchup will see them take on Allegheny College starting at 11 a.m. on Friday.
