ST. LOUIS, Mo. (April 15, 2022) – The No. 13 Denison University men's tennis team started its trip to Missouri with a big 5-4 statement win over No. 6 Washington University in St. Louis on Friday evening at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center.

Notable Results:
Doubles
- Denison took a 2-1 lead after the doubles matches thanks to an 8-5 win by Marc-Lennart Harms and Blake Eason at No. 2 doubles, followed by a tiebreaker win at No. 1 doubles, 8-7 (7-3), by Tim Cianciola and Jack Bulger.
- Cianciola and Bulger are now 17-0 together on the season, all at No. 1 doubles.
- At No. 3 doubles, Colin Gramley and Milan Gonela lost in a tiebreaker of their own, falling by a score of 8-7 (7-2).
Singles
- The first singles match to finish was a 6-0, 4-6, 6-1 three-set win for Daniel Garcia at No. 6 singles to give the Big Red a 3-1 advantage.
- With the score within one at 3-2, Denison clinched the team win with victories of 6-3, 6-1 by Cianciola in the No. 1 spot and then 6-2, 6-1 by Harms at No. 3 singles.
- The final match to finish was a 6-2, 7-6 (7-1) loss at No. 5 singles for Gonela.

- Coming off a tough 5-4 loss at No. 25 Kenyon College earlier in the week, No. 13 Denison now improves to 18-2 overall and 6-1 on the road this season while WashU fell to 12-7.

Next Up: Denison will remain in St. Louis but will now take on No. 2 the University of Chicago in a neutral match at the Tao Tennis Center beginning at 10 a.m. Central Standard Time on Saturday, April 16. Denison's Senior Day will be the next day on Sunday, April 17, against the College of Wooster (11 a.m.) and Oberlin College (2 p.m.).
