GRANVILLE, Ohio (February 23, 2022) – The Denison University men's tennis team has announced its recruiting class for 2022. The class includes eight student-athletes representing five states and three countries. The class is considered the top class in school history and was voted the #2 recruiting class in NCAA Division III by the
Tennis Recruiting Network. In addition, the winter rankings had Denison University as one of only three Division III schools to receive votes as one of top-45 classes in all levels of college tennis.
"The coaches and I are extremely excited about the 2022 class," said Denison's Head Men's Tennis Coach
David Schilling. "I feel it has the potential to be one of the best classes in the nation. There is both depth and top-end talent throughout the class, and I believe this class will set us up to make a significant jump in our program."
Below are the eight players joining the Big Red men's tennis team from the class of 2022 to date:
Ethan Green joins Denison from Salt Lake City, Utah (Skyline High School). He is a 4-star recruit who is ranked #114 in his class and is currently rated 11.13 on the Universal Tennis Rating (UTR) system. Ethan is the
highest ranked commit in Denison school history.
Jacob Patterson from Bridgeville, Pennsylvania (South Fayette High School) is a 3-star recruit currently ranked as the #212 senior. Jacob has been ranked as high as #137 in his class this year and has spent most of 2020 and 2021 as a 4-star recruit. His current UTR is 10.6.
Nickawn Namdar joins the Big Red from San Rafael, California (Marin Catholic High School). A 3-star recruit ranked #247 in his class, Nickawn is rated 10.41 on UTR.
Anthony Payiavlas comes from Warren, Ohio (Warren G. Harding High School). Another 3-star recruit, Anthony, is currently ranked #267 in his class with a UTR as high as 10.61 this year.
Camden French comes to Denison from San Diego, California (La Jolla Country Day School). Following injury, Camden has dropped to #459 in his class but spent most of 2019 and 2020 as a 4-star recruit.
Charlie Kuchler, a Katy, Texas, native (Tompkins High School), has been a top-200 ranked player in his class and is currently a 3-star recruit.
The class also features two international players:
Andreas Chapides is from Limassol, Cyprus (ES International School). Andreas is the highest-rated player in the class on Universal Tennis Rating, with a current 11.22 rating. Chapides trains year-round at Sanchez-Casal Academy in Barcelona, Spain
Finally,
Tomer Ozmo comes to Granville from Modi'in-Maccabim-Re'ut, Israel (Ironi Aleph HS). He will join the Big Red following a two years and eight month commitment in the Israeli military. Tomer is one of the most decorated players in the 2022 recruiting class and was the #1 ranked junior in Boys 18's in Israel in 2019.
