GRANVILLE, Ohio (February 19, 2022) – The No. 21 Denison University men's tennis team put up a valiant effort and it came all the way down to the final singles match to decide a winner, but in the end, the Big Red fell 5-4 against the No. 2 nationally-ranked team in NCAA Division III, Case Western Reserve University, on Saturday inside the Mitchell Fieldhouse.

Singles
- Cianciola started off singles play with a 7-5, 6-1 win in the No. 1 spot to tie the match at 2-2.
- Mackler then fell 6-4, 6-1 at No. 4 singles before Bulger won 7-5, 7-5 at No. 2 singles to tie it at 3-3.
- Harms then came back to earn a three-set win (3-6, 6-4, 6-1) at No. 3 singles, giving Denison a sweep of the top three singles spots and a 4-3 lead at the time.
- Unfortunately, after Daniel Garcia lost 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6 singles to tie it again with only one match to go, it was all on the shoulders of Ryan Patrick at No. 5 singles. Patrick won his opening set 6-3, but could not hold on in the final two, dropping them by scores of 6-4 and 6-3 to give Case Western the well-deserved victory.
Records:
- No. 21 Denison dropped to 2-1 while No. 2 Case Western improved to 4-1. The Spartans came out on top, but their streak of 23 consecutive regular-season wins against NCAA Division III competition was certainly put to the test and nearly came to an end on Saturday.
