#27 Men’s Tennis takes two from Wooster

GRANVILLE, Ohio -- Denison men's tennis posted two 9-0 sweeps over the College of Wooster in two matches on Saturday at the Denison Tennis Courts in Granville.

Match 1

In doubles action in the first match, the 27th-ranked Big Red jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after No. 1 pair Tim Cianciola and Patrick McGuigan defeated Wooster's Joaquin Abos Amo and Shivam Dewan, 8-6. Andy Mackler and Milan Gonela took down Alex Drewes and Nebyou Minassie, 8-5. To finish out doubles, Jack Bulger and Akshat Agarwal defeated Vakul Nath and Jeremy Williams, 8-1.
In singles play, Cianciola moved to 3-1 in singles play this season after taking down Abos Amo in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1. Bulger defeated Drewes, 6-3, 6-1 in No. 2 singles while Lennart-Harms defeated Nath, 6-0, 6-4.
Continuing the Big Red singles streak was senior Jacob Dennen, who defeated Minassie 6-2, 6-1. Mackler took down Dewan, 6-1, 6-0. Closing out the first match was Gonela, who defeated Connor Streeter, 6-1, 6-2.

Match 2

To start off the second match in doubles, Cianciola and Bulger blanked Drewes and Streeter, 8-0. Mackler and McGuigan defeated Abos Amo and Williams, 8-4. Closing out doubles, John Purnode and Jackson Graham took down Kevin Si and Nathen Garson, 8-1.
On the singles court, Vlad Rotnov, who is ranked 48th nationally in singles, defeated Minassie in straight sets with a pair of 6-2 wins. Bulger defeated Nath, 6-1, 6-3 and Lennart-Harms took down Streeter, 6-1, 6-0.
In the final three matches, Gonela defeated Williams, 6-1, 6-0, Mackler shut out Garson with a pair of 6-0 wins, and Nadeem Jones blanked Si, 6-0, 6-0. The two wins bring the Big Red to 4-1 as the Fighting Scots fell to 0-4.
