GRANVILLE, Ohio—Denison opened North Coast Athletic Conference West Division play with a doubleheader sweep of Ohio Wesleyan. Denison won the opener 9-1 and took game two, 11-3. With the wins, Denison improves to 7-3 overall and 2-0 in the NCAC West.

Game 1

  • The Denison offense pounded out 11 hits as Brian McAuliffe, Ty Robinson, Will Krushena, Daniel Spencer and Jake Welsch all hat multi-hit games.
  • Anthony Ruggieri's two-run single up the middle in the second broke a 1-1 tie, giving DU a 3-1 advantage.
  • In the top of the first, OWU had runners on first and second with their clean-up hitter Zack Stiteler at the plate but Perrett induced a ground ball to Krushena who stepped on first for one and went to second for the inning ending double play.
  • The win was the 16th of Taylor Perrett's career, moving him into a tie for seventh place with Danny Brackman '19 and John Troll '16 in career victories at Denison.
Game 2
  • Will McManaman (1-1) bounced back with a five hit, two earned run performance in six innings pitched to improve to 1-1 on the season. McManaman struck out three and walked only one on 86 pitches.
  • Every player in the lineup recorded at least one hit in the night cap.
  • After OWU scored two in the fourth to make it a 4-2 game, Ty Robinson delivered a two-run single to right field to put DU back on top, 6-2.
  • The Big Red blew the game wide open with five runs in the sixth.
  • Brian McAuliffe and Will Krushena had the only two extra-base hits for Denison in game two. Ten of Denison's 12 hits were singles.
