Denison Women Lead After Round One

GRANVILLE-- Denison women's golf holds a 14 stroke lead over second-place DePauw entering the final round of the Denison Spring Invitational from Denison Golf Club. The Big Red fired an opening round 320. DePauw sits in second at 334 while positions three through five are occupied by Wittenberg (337), Wooster (357), and Ohio Wesleyan (396).

Denison was led in round one by Sophia Alexander who carded a five-over par round of 76. Alexander logged back-to-back birdies on the par-5 sixth and the par-3 seventh holes en route to a 36 on the front nine. After a triple bogey on No. 15, Alexander rebounded with a birdie on the par-4 16th hole.
Laine Hursh and Megan Wong followed with seven-over-par rounds of 78. Hursh went out in 42 and in with an even-par 36 thanks to two birdies on her final four holes. Wong logged totals of 40 and 38 highlighted by a birdie on the par-3 17th hole.
Megan Munn rounded out Denison's top-four with an 88.

The Denison Spring Invitational will close out on Sunday, April 18 at Denison Golf Club.
