Box Score

MOUNT BERRY, Ga. – Finishing the weekend with a pair of wins over Adrian and Berry, No. 19 Denison baseball closed out their trip to the Peach State on Sunday afternoon with a 4-0 loss to Wisconsin-Oshkosh at William R. Bowdoin Stadium in Mount Berry, Ga. The Big Red return to Ohio with a 3-3 record while the Titans head home at 2-4 on the year.

Following Saturday night's 10-9 comeback victory over Berry, the Big Red faced UWO's Ethan Weinandy who dazzled for the Titans. Through a complete nine innings of work, Weinandy held Denison to five hits and four walks while collecting nine strikeouts.

Weinandy also received support from his offense, headlined by a solo home run from Benjamin Jung in the first at-bat of the game. In the top of the third, Hunter Staniske secured a pair of RBIs on a double to left-center, while Jung scored on his swinging strikeout later in the inning.

After loading the bases in the third, the Big Red looked to respond in the fourth with a lead-off double from Will Krushena that helped DU load the bases before a walk to Danny Alvarez and a single from Daniel Spencer. Despite the advantage, Weinandy tallied the final three outs of the inning to keep UWO ahead, 4-0.

Freshmen Patrick Neenan and Tim O'Connor highlighted the Big Red bullpen who threw four innings of scoreless and hitless baseball on 50 pitches. Junior Trey Holland got the start for Denison and finished with eight strikeouts in five innings on the hill.

At the plate, Spencer went 2-for-4 while Krushena, Ty Robinson, and Anthony Ruggieri also recorded a hit.

The Big Red return to the diamond on Tuesday, March 10 when they welcome Otterbein University to Granville for their home opener beginning at 5 p.m.
