Men's Tennis takes down Flying Dutchmen

GRANVILLE, Ohio – Denison men's tennis moved their winning streak to four on Friday evening as they defeated Hope College 8-1 at the Mitchell Fieldhouse in Granville.

Opening the competition on the doubles courts, the Big Red took an early lead in No. 2 play when Vlad Rotnov and Akshat Agarwal posted an 8-0 shutout of Hope's Cameron Coates and Matt Henkel. Jacob Dennen and Hayden McNamara kept momentum on the home side in No. 3 doubles following an 8-1 defeat of Asher Jones and Tyler Stafford.

Denison entered singles play with a 3-0 advantage after DU's top-flight duo of Tim Cianciola and Jack Bulger toppled Jacob Burkett and Danny Kroeze, 8-2.

In singles action, the Big Red continued to roll past the Dutch, winning five of six singles matches. In No. 5 singles, Agarwal tallied a 6-0, 6-1 straight-set victory over Hopes Paul Washington while Cianciola took care of Coates on the No. 2 court, 6-3, 6-2.

In No. 3 play, Bulger defeated Alec Berrodin, 6-2, 6-3 and McNamara posted a 7-6 (4), 6-4 victory over Henkel in No. 6 singles.

Sitting at 4-2 on the season, the Big Red will return to action on Saturday, March 7 at 2 p.m. when they host No. 30 Kalamazoo College at the Mitchell Fieldhouse.
