GRANVILLE, Ohio – The 27th ranked Denison men's tennis team secured their third-straight win on Wednesday evening following an 8-1 defeat of Ohio Wesleyan at the Mitchell Fieldhouse in Granville. They currently sit at 3-2 so far on the spring season.
The Big Red opened Wednesday's match with three consecutive wins on the doubles court, led by a top-flight victory from Tim Cianciola and Jack Bulger who powered past Ben Stein and Miller Buckholz, 8-3. In No. 2 doubles, Vlad Rotnov and Akshat Agarwal blanked the Bishops' Ryan Simon and Omar Santiagonunez, 8-0, before Jacob Dennen and Hayden McNamara closed out doubles with an 8-1 defeat of Alex Riess and Billy Lewis in No. 3 play.
On the singles court, the Big Red tallied straight-set victories in No. 1 through No. 5 singles, starting with a top-flight victory from Rotnov over Stein, 6-1, 6-3. Cianciola swept Simon 6-0, 6-0 on the No. 2 court and Bulger posted a 6-1, 6-4 defeat of Buckholz in No. 3 singles. Agarwal and McNamara also posted wins for DU on the No. 4 and No. 5 courts.
Denison will return to action this Friday, March 6 when they host Hope College at 5 p.m.
