Big Red suffer setback at #5 Witt

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The Tigers connected on 18 three-pointers on Wednesday night as No. 5 Wittenberg defeated Denison 100-59 at Pam Evans Smith Arena in Springfield.

With the Big Red trailing the Tigers 30-22 with 5:49 remaining in the first half, Wittenberg closed out the half on a 15-0 scoring run behind five three-pointers to give WU a 45-22 lead at the break.

The Tigers followed with 55 points in the second half on 20-of-32 from the field (62.5%) and 8-of-13 from the perimeter (61.5%) to earn their 19th win of the season. The loss dropped Denison to 7-13 on the season.

Junior Conor Fenton led the Big Red with 13 points and a game-high 14 rebounds. Freshman Jack Olson added a career-high 12 points off the bench. Kevin Cheng chipped in 9 points and Will Hunter tallied four points and three assists.

Wittenberg finished with five players in double figures, including a game-high 15 points from Brice Hill on 5-of-6 from three. Connor Seipel finished with 14 points and Rashaad Ali-Shakir and Jordan Pumroy each posted 11 points.

The Big Red will return home on Saturday, February 8 when they host Oberlin College at 3 p.m.
