Big Red to face Wabash in NCAC Tournament Quarters

GRANVILLE, Ohio--  Denison is carrying some momentum into the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament after a pair of wins over DePauw and Ohio Wesleyan to close out the 2019-20 regular season.  The Big Red (10-15, 7-11 NCAC) enters this year's tournament as the No. 7 seed and will face No. 2 Wabash (17-8, 13-5 NCAC) at 7 p.m. on Tuesday (Feb. 25) at Chadwick Court in Crawfordsville, Indiana.

Denison ended the season on a six-game home winning streak that featured victories over then No. 14 Wooster, Hiram, Kenyon, Oberlin, DePauw, and Ohio Wesleyan.  Wabash took both meetings against the Big Red this season, prevailing 75-65 in Granville and 88-65 in Crawfordsville.

Jack Coulter leads Denison in scoring at 11.5 ppg. He is shooting 40 percent from 3-point range this season and needs five 3-pointers to break his own single-season record for treys.  Conor Fenton ranks fifth in the NCAC in rebounds per game at 8.1 while averaging 11.2 ppg.  In 18 conference game, Freeman Brou is averaging 11.4 ppg and is coming off a career-high 26 points against Ohio Wesleyan.

Wabash is led by junior All-American Jack Davidson. He is second in the NCAC in scoring at 20.0 ppg. And is shooting 47 percent from the field and 44 percent from beyond the arc.  Davidson is one of four Little Giants averaging in double figures.  Tyler Watson is averaging 13.1 ppg, followed by Harrison Hallstrom (11.4 ppg) and Kellen Schreiber (10.2 ppg.).

This is the fourth time Denison and Wabash have met in the NCAC Tournament.  The Little Giants hold a 2-1 record against the Big Red in the postseason. The last time the two teams met in the conference tournament the Big Red defeated Wabash 74-60 in Crawfordsville behind a memorable 28-point performance by Larry Farmer '12. Denison advanced to the NCAC Championship game that season.
