NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. – The 26th-ranked Denison men's tennis team tallied their second win of the spring season on Sunday after claiming a 7-2 win over Centre College at the Top Seed Tennis Club in Nicholasville, Ky.
The Big Red opened with a stellar performance on the doubles court, sweeping all three showings to take a 3-0 lead into singles. In the top flight, Tim Cianciola and Jack Bulger earned an 8-3 victory over Centre's top duo, Arpit Rana and Danny Nelson. In No. 2 doubles, Vlad Rotnov and Akshat Agarwal outpaced Max Middleton and Matthew Bulow to the tune of 8-1 while Jacob Dennen and Hayden McNamara took down Faraz Ghamgosar and Owen Alsup, 8-1, in No. 3 play.
In singles action, the Big Red continued their hot start after recording wins on the first four courts, headlined by a top-flight victory from Cianciola over Rana, 6-1, 6-0. Rotnov added to DU's straight-set success in No. 2 play with a pair of 6-1 wins over Middleton and Bulger dropped Bulow, 6-0, 6-3 on the No. 3 court.
Dennen rounded out DU's victories for the day in No. 4 singles with a 7-5, 6-2 victory over Adam Slone to move to 2-2 on the season. The loss dropped the Colonels to 2-3 overall.
The Big Red will return to action on Wednesday, March 4 when they open a three-match homestand against Ohio Wesleyan at 4:30 p.m. in the Mitchell Fieldhouse.
