GRANVILLE, Ohio-- In a clash of two top-25 teams, 15th ranked Carnegie Mellon held off No. 24 Denison for a 6-3 victory. The Tartans entered the match ranked second in the central region. Denison is ranked sixth in the region.
Despite the loss, Denison did get a big victory from first-year Tim Cianciola who was playing his second match at No. 1 singles. Cianciola defeated the central region's ninth-ranked player, Daniel Levine, 6-0, 6-2.
At No. 4 singles, Denison's Mitchell Thai defeated Robert Levin, 6-2, 6-3 for his 11th singles win this season.
The Big Red's third point came at second doubles where Kevin Brown and Blake Burstein defeated Chaz Downing and Nicholas Calzolano, 8-6.
This closes out the 2019 regular season for Denison. They return to the court on Friday (April 26) at the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships in Indianapolis, Indiana.
