GAMBIER, Ohio-- Denison sent a limited roster of men's swimmers to the Kenyon Fast Chance Invitational seeking out one final 'B' cut for the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championship next month.
Senior Kenny Fox improved his 'B' cut in the 100 fly with a first place finish and a time of 48.76. Fox placed fifth in the 100 fly at nationals in 2018 and was seventh in the event as a sophomore in 2017.
Francis Biagioli and Ryan Stevenson went 1-2 in the 400 IM and both individuals came away with season-best performances. Biagioli won the event with a time of 3:57.03. His previous best time was 3:58.15 set last week at the NCAC Championship. Stevenson trimmed 15 seconds off his season best in the event, touching with a 'B' cut time of 4:00.96. Stevenson placed eighth in the 400 IM at nationals in 2018.
In the 200 backstroke, Liam Picozzi placed second with a season-best 'B' cut time of 1:49.45. Richie Kurlich also logged a 'B' cut in the time trials of the 200 fly, touching in 1:50.24.
Another time trial 'B' cut occurred in the 1,650 free as Jackson Berman took four seconds off his previous season-best with a time of 16:01.70.
Jake Von Der Lippe nabbed a 'B' cut in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:03.30. She just missed his cut in the 100 breast as he finished with a time of 56.48.
The 2019 NCAA Division III Championships will take place on March 20-23 in Greensboro.
