GRANVILLE, Ohio-- Denison suffered a 210-88 loss to the Pitt Panthers on Friday afternoon from the Trumbull Aquatics Center on the campus of Denison University. The Big Red entered the meet as the nation's No. 1 team in NCAA Division III while Pitt checked in ranked 25th in NCAA Division I.
Carson Clear posted a second place finish in the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 23.90 while Drake Horton took third in the 200 free in 1:42.47.
Dayen Wilson and James Baker went 2-3 in the 500 free with times of 4:44.27 and 4:45.77, respectively.
The team of P.J. Desmet, Tiernan Foster-Smith, Colin Macmillan and Kymani Senior touched third in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:32.49. Foster-Smith returned with a second-place showing in the 100 breast (58.43) and a third-place showing in the 50-yard breaststroke (26.42).
Senior Brett Weicht placed second in the 50 butterfly with a time of 23.05. He was followed in third place by Macmillan in 23.11. Samuel Jo paced DU in the 100 backstroke with a third-place time of 52.68 while Matt McHugh went third (21.48) and fourth (47.88), respectively in the 50 and 100 freestyles.
Kenny Fox posted a fourth-place finish in the 100 fly, touching in 51.07 while Ryan Stevenson led DU in the 100 IM in 54.23.
In diving, Liam Simmons totaled a six-dive score of 253.65 to place second on the 1-meter board. Brendan Downey was fourth at 206.70. On the 3-meter board, Simmons was second at 245.70 while Downey was fourth at 190.05.
On Jan. 19 Denison will host an intrasquad meet beginning at 1 p.m. at the Trumbull Aquatics Center. Denison's seniors will be recognized prior to the start of the meet.
