#11 Denison ends regular season with a win over Wabash

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind.--  Eleventh-ranked Denison scored 12 goals in the first quarter against Wabash helping them to a 24-5 win over the Little Giants at Fischer Field.  The win closes out the regular season for Denison with a 13-3 overall record and a 7-1 mark in North Coast Athletic Conference play. 

Spencer Butler led the Denison offense with five goals and one assist on six shots.  Brooks Davy and Tucker Root followed with three goal and one assist performances to pace the Big Red offense.

Thirteen different players scored at least one goal for DU.  Jake Waxter scored two goals and had one assist.  Josiah Wilson tallied a pair of goals while the rest of the scoring was rounded out by Aidan Maher (1 goal, 1 assist), Chris Broderick (1 goal), Riley Johnson (1 goal), Brant Pittman (1 goal), Ian Crosby (1 goal, 1 assist), Sam Asman (1 goal) and Ryan Kirkpatrick (1 goal).

Reeves McKenney got the start in goal and finished with two saves in 30 minutes.  Stephen Paras played the second half and posted four saves.

Denison outshot the Little Giants 58-15 and won 27-of-33 at the faceoff X.  Hunter Golian and Henry DeCamp were both 10-for-12 when facing off.

Wabash goalie Max Atkins recorded 13 saves while facing 37 shots-on-goal.  Collin Brennan led Wabash with two goals and one assist.

The win sets up next week's NCAC Tournament pairings.  Denison will be the No. 2 seed in the tournament and will host No. 3 seed, Kenyon College on Wednesday, April 25 at 7:30 p.m.  The other semifinal will pit No. 1 seed Ohio Wesleyan against No. 4 seed, DePauw at 7 p.m. on Wednesday in Delaware, Ohio.  The winners of Wednesday's semifinals will meet in the NCAC Tournament Championship on Saturday, April 28 at the home field of the highest remaining seed.
