CHARLOTTE, N.C.—Ninth-ranked Denison outscored Rhodes College 3-1 in the fourth quarter to leave Queens University with a 12-8 victory over the Lynx. Denison attackman Brooks Davy scored two his game-high four goals in the fourth quarter to seal up the win.  The Big Red improves to 6-2 while Rhodes falls to 6-2.

The Big Red jumped out to a big 6-0 lead in the first quarter.  Owen Armstrong started things off with a goal with 8:50 left in the first.  On the ensuing faceoff, Henry DeCamp got the win and proceeded to scoop-and-score for the first time this season.

A 30-second pushing push infraction on Rhodes gave DU its first EMO of the game and Brooks Davy converted off a pass from Peter Pittroff.  In a matter of 57 seconds, Denison exploded for the game's first three goals.

The DU defense accounted for the Big Red's next goal after a ground ball by Hannibal George was cleared by Ben Duhoski, the senior All-American found his short-stick Josh Happ for his fourth goal of the season.

Pittroff's unassisted tally with 4:11 left gave the Big Red a 5-0 lead and Armstrong continued the run with an unassisted score with 1:35 remaining in the first.  The Lynx broke through 27 seconds later when Ryan Fennelly scored his 14th goal of the season after Rhodes forced a DU turnover.

Each team scored a goal in the second quarter as Jake Waxter got on the board for Denison and Fennelly struck again for Rhodes.  The Big Red went into halftime with a 7-2 lead.

In the third quarter, Rhodes cut its deficit down to two by outscoring Denison 5-2 in the period.  The two teams were 50/50 on faceoffs, but 11 ground balls for Rhodes and six turnovers for Denison aided the comeback bid.

With 12:43 left in the game, Rhodes was flagged for a technical and Pittroff connected with Davy for DU's second man-up goal of the game to go on top, 10-7.

Rhodes cut the Denison lead back to two with 9:39 to play but a slashing call on Rhodes' Matt Perez put Denison back in extra-man with 5:30 left.  Thirty seconds into the penalty, Waxter converted.  DU's final goal came from Davy with 3:51 remaining, setting the final at 12-8.

This was the first-ever meeting between Denison and Rhodes in men's lacrosse.  Denison outshot Rhodes 47-33 but Lynx goalie Cameron Link kept them in the game with a 16-save performance.  Denison goalie Stephen Paras finished with eight saves.  DeCamp was 16-for-22 when facing off. He led the squad with 12 ground balls. Peter Doering had three caused turnovers and George finished with three ground balls and one caused turnover.

The Lynx committed seven penalties that covered 4:30. Denison was 3-for-7 in extra-man.

No. 9 Denison will returns to Granville to face off against Middlebury College on Wednesday (March 28) at 7:30 p.m.  The Big Red and Middlebury have not faced each other since 2000.
