Box Score PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla.-- Denison will return to Granville after a successful week-long trip to the Sunshine State. The Big Red closed out their run at the Snowbird Classic with a 13-2 victory over 25th ranked North Central (Ill.). The win moves them to 7-3 on the year after going 4-3 down south.
Jack Blanchard led DU at the plate going 4-for-5 with four RBIs courtesy of a pair of two-run doubles.
Leading 5-2 entering the bottom of the sixth, Denison blew the game wide open with a six-run half inning, putting Denison on top, 11-2. Blanchard provided a bases loaded double that scored two runs and Eric Zmuda added a RBI single. Evan Flax followed with a RBI single of his own. Later in the frame, Flax scored via a wild pitch and Tucker Davison drove in Phil Papaioannou.
Zack Huarte pitched six innings and got the win to improve to 3-0. He gave up four hits, struck out three and did not allow an earned run. Cody Mauri earned his first save of the season by pitching the final three innings of relief. He struck out one and scattered two hits.
Denison will resume their schedule on Wednesday, March 22 when they travel to Marietta for a game slated to start at 7 p.m.
