The Denison women's tennis team suffered a 9-0 loss to No. 8 Wesleyan on Friday afternoon.
At No. 1 doubles, Lauren Hawley and Emma Alsup played Eudice Chong and Victoria Yu to a narrow defeat, 8-6. At second doubles, Megan Hickey and Ashley Hammons suffered an 8-4 loss to Aashli Budhiraja and Julia Kim.
Entering singles play, trailing 3-0, Hawley dropped a 6-4, 6-1 decision to Chong in the first flight. Chong is the No. 2 ranked player in the Northeast Region and Hawley is ranked No. 4 in the Central Region.
Charlotte Purnode suffered a 6-3, 6-3 loss to Nicole McCann and Carol Vitellas lost to Ella Lindholm-Uzzi, 6-4-61.
Wesleyan improves to 3-0 on the season while Denison drops to 2-6. The Big Red will return to Ohio and will host Ohio Wesleyan on Wednesday, March 22 at 4:30 p.m.
