GRANVILLE, Ohio – Denison men's swimming & diving totaled 11 victories on Saturday afternoon, defeating Xavier University 171-86 at the Trumbull Aquatics Center in Granville.
The Big Red were led by sophomore Matt Hedman who clocked in with a 'B' cut time of 16:06.09 in the 1650 freestyle. The time also came in as a season-best for Hedman.
The men's meet opened with a top finish in the 200 medley relay from Carson Clear, Tiernan Foster-Smith, Kenny Fox and Zach Wagner, who combined for a time of 1:32.31. Foster-Smith also earned an individual victory and a season-best time of 57.93 in the 100 breaststroke.
Fox checked in at 46.17 for a win in the 100 freestyle, and Wagner finished on top in the 50 free with a 20.72.
Senior Stuart Hohm added a pair of victories for DU in the 200 freestyle (1:42.27) and the 500 freestyle. Hohm logged a season-best time of 4:43.10 in the 500 free.
Denison clocked in with two additional season-best times from Kymani Senior's 50:09 in the 100 butterfly and Bebe Wang's 1:51.61 in the 200 backstroke.
Mitch Williams and Jason Wesseling also contributed to the team win with victories in the 200 butterfly (1:53.18) and 100 backstroke (52.13), respectively.
Diving was not a part of today's meet.
The Big Red will return to action next Saturday, Nov. 11 when they travel to Gambier, Ohio to take on Kenyon College at 10 a.m.
