Anna Neimeyer's goal in the seventh minute proved to be enough for Ohio Northern University to pick up a 1-0 victory over Denison on Wednesday in Granville, Ohio.

After having their first three shots blocked aside by the Big Red defense, Neimeyer was able to break the scoreless tie after receiving a flick-on pass from Rose Nienaber and convert from 12 yards out at 6:37. The Big Red outshot ONU 4-2 over the remainder of the period, but entered the intermission still down by a goal.

Denison held a 6-5 advantage in shot attempts in the second period. In the 46th minute, sophomore Maggie Armstrong was inches away from tying the off a Grace Murray corner kick. However, her header sailed just over the crossbar. Senior captain Anne Denz had a chance to even the score in the 82nd minute, but her flick-on header went left of the goal.

The Polar Bears had a slight 11-10 edge in shots, while also attempting five of the game's nine corner kicks. Junior goalie Jenny Herold made three saves between the pipes for DU, while Meagan Grierson stopped the only shot on goal she faced.

The Big Red falls to 2-3-1 on the year, while Ohio Northern improves to a perfect 4-0. Denison continues their homestand on Saturday when they face another regional foe, Centre College. Kickoff is slated for 2:30 p.m.
