The 31st-ranked Denison men's tennis closed out the regular season with a 7-2 win over Allegheny on Sunday afternoon at the Robertson Complex in Meadville, Pa.
The No. 1 doubles team of Kevin Brown and Jackson O'Gorman-Bean improved to 16-7 on the year after doubling up Thomas Manning and Jai Redkar, 8-4. Owen Smith and Jamie McDonald moved to a perfect 4-0 on the season following an 8-3 decision over Andreas Landgrebe and Samarth Gopal. The Gators avoided the sweep with a second doubles victory.
Freshman Blake Burstein moved the score to 3-1 with a 6-3, 6-2 decision over Zach Anderson at the sixth flight, while a 6-3, 6-3 victory by O'Gorman-Bean put DU one win away from clinching the match. Smith provided that point with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Landgrebe at No. 4 singles. McDonald and Colin Bahin recorded the sixth and seventh points with victories at second (6-3, 6-4) and fifth (6-2, 6-2) singles, respectively.
With the win, the Big Red will carry an 11-6 record into next weekend's North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament held on the campus of Denison University. The three-day tournament will begin on Friday morning and run through Sunday afternoon (April 29-May 1).
