Box Score

Sixth-ranked Denison continued its strong play following a 13-4 win over Wittenberg on Saturday afternoon in Springfield.  The Big Red jumped out to a convincing 9-1 first half lead en route to their second North Coast Athletic Conference win of the season.

Despite high winds and a wintry mix that began to fall in the second half, the Big Red focused on the task at hand and ran its winning streak to seven games.

The Tigers were flagged for six penalties which resulted in 5:30 of extra-man time for the Denison offense.  The Big Red went 3-for-6 in man-up with goals coming from Liam Rooney, Will Donohue and James Meager in the first half.

DU's 13 goals came from nine different individuals.  Blair Farinholt led the way with three goals and one assist.  Meager and Donohue scored two goals each.  Eric Baumgardner made sure the Big Red dominated possession by winning 15-of-18 faceoffs.  He paced the squad with eight ground balls.  Josh Happ added five ground balls while Teddy Sawyer finished with two caused turnovers.

Chris Thomas posted nine saves while playing all 60 minutes in goal for Denison.  His counterpart, Nick Gregory, finished with 14 saves.  All three of Wittenberg's goals were scored by Thomas Fuss.

The win runs Denison's record to 25-2 all-time against Wittenberg. DU will continue NCAC play on Tuesday, April 5 when they host Hiram College at 7 p.m. inside Piper Stadium.
