Big Red handles Terriers, 20-2

Denison women's lacrosse remained unbeaten in North Coast Athletic Conference play after a 20-2 win over Hiram College on Saturday in Hiram, Ohio.

DU scored 13 goals in the first half and held a 13-1 lead at the intermission.  Senior attacker Carol Allen scored a career-high seven goals in the win.  Allen is the team leader and her seven-goal effort marked her third consecutive season with at least 30 goals scored.  She ranks ninth in career goals at Denison with 133. She needs only six goals to move past five individuals, into fourth place on the all-time list.

Denison controlled 20 of 25 draws as Jane Goodspeed led the way with six draw controls and three caused turnovers.  Lizzy Pellicane scored two goals and led the team with three assists and two ground balls.  Colleen Muldoon scored two goals, one assist and had three draw controls.  Also posting multi-goal efforts was Maddy Heher and Leah Israel.

Laura Van Horn got the start in goal and she finished with one save while playing all 60 minutes.  Rachel Metcalf finished with nine saves for the Terriers.  Both Hiram goals were scored by Autumn Osgood.

Denison outshot Hiram 36-5.

The Big Red (7-5, 4-0 NCAC) will travel to Kenyon on Tuesday, April 19 for a 5 p.m. matchup against the Ladies.  They will host Ohio Wesleyan next Saturday, April 23 at 1 p.m.
