In a battle of two top-25 teams, No. 21 Case Western Reserved edged No. 23 Denison, 6-3 in Cleveland, Ohio on Saturday night.
At the top of the order, Denison succeeded, winning at No. 1 doubles and first and second singles. In doubles play, Lauren Hawley and Meg Chiumento defeated the Central Region's fifth-ranked duo of Nithya Kanagasegar and Sara Zargham, 9-8 (7-3).
At first singles, Hawley improved to 3-0 against regionally ranked opponents when she dispatched the region's fourth-ranked player, Kanagasegar, 6-3, 7-5.
Chiumento, the region's 13th ranked player, would earn Denison's third point with a victory over No. 11, Jessica Liu, 6-3, 7-6 (7-4).
At fifth singles, Denison's Sarah Torrence suffered a three-set loss to Michelle Djohan, 6-4, 2-6, 1-6.
Denison falls to 5-6 with the loss. They will return to action on Monday, March 28 when they travel to Gambier, Ohio for a 4:30 p.m. match against Kenyon College.
