Alma is no match for Denison in home opener

Ten minutes into Wednesday's home opener against Alma, Denison had a 6-0 lead and the Big Red never looked back as they cruised to a 19-2 win over the Scots from Piper Stadium.

The Big Red improved to 3-4 on the season by outshooting Alma 32-9 while forcing 21 turnovers.

Denison was led in scoring by Leah Isreal who finished with three goals and two assists.  Claudi Rafi and Claire Ludlow also posted hat tricks for the Big Red. Annie McMahon and Carol Allen added two goals and one assist.  Colleen Muldoon scored twice while first-year Emily Sonneborn led the defense with four caused turnovers and four ground balls.

In all, 10 different players accounted for Denison's 19 goals.  Laura Van Horn played all 60 minutes for Denison in goal. She made three saves while facing nine shots.

Denison will return to action on Saturday, April 2 when they open North Coast Athletic Conference play against league rival, Wittenberg at 12 p.m. in Springfield, Ohio.
