DU takes out Battling Bishops

Denison men's tennis picked up its sixth win of the season on Tuesday afternoon following an 8-1 win over Ohio Wesleyan University.

At No. 1 singles, Denison's Jamie McDonald pulled out a three-set win over OWU's Shouta Fukamachi, 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (3).  With the win, McDonald's singles record improves to 5-5 in dual matches and 9-7 overall.

At second singles, Jack O'Koniewski took care of Jakraraj Rungaseng in straight sets, 7-5, 6-3.  Owen Smith followed with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Elliot Garwood at No.3 and Colin Bahin prevailed in three sets, 4-6, 6-3, 10-6 over Pak Alevizopoulos.

At fifth and sixth singles, Denison's Blake Burstein and Costas Alevizopoulos both completed straight set wins.

OWU's lone point would come at third doubles. At first doubles, McDonald and Burnstein logged an 8-1 win.  Smith and O'Koniewski also picked up an 8-1 win at second doubles.

Denison improves to 6-4 while the Battling Bishops fall to 6-5.  The Big Red will return to action on Wednesday, March 30 when they host Wooster at 4:30 p.m.
