The Denison men's tennis team dropped a 9-0 decision to Armstrong State University, the third-ranked team in Division II, on Tuesday afternoon in Palmas del Mar, Puerto Rico.
The closest match of the day came at the top doubles flight where Kevin Brown and Jackson O'Gorman-Bean pushed the Pirates team of Alberto Casas and Jan Porteset to a tiebreaker. Unfortunately, the DU tandem fell 7-5 in the tiebreaker. O'Gorman-Bean also had the best singles showing, suffering a 6-4, 6-2 setback to 35th-ranked Luca Cerin at third singles.
Brown took two games from the No. 2 singles player in Division II, Pablo Gor, in the opening set at No. 1 singles before falling 6-0 in the second set. Freshman Colin Bahin played a very close opening set against Casas before dropping a straight-set decision (6-4, 6-0).
The Big Red falls to 4-4 on the year, while Armstrong State improved to 10-1. Denison returns to action on Wednesday when they take on the University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez at 12:30 p.m.
