The 2016 NCAA Diving Regional came to a close on Saturday in Granville, Ohio and the Big Red had all four of their divers qualify for the NCAA Division III Championship. Max Levy, Ben Lewis, Brian Allen and Nathan Lightman all earned the right to compete in North Carolina.
On Friday night, all four divers placed in the top-6 in the 1-meter event. Less than 24 hours later, the quartet occupied the four of the top-7 slots on the 3-meter board at the 2016 NCAA Division III Diving Regional held at the Trumbull Aquatics Center in Granville.
After winning the 1-meter on Friday night, reigning NCAA Diver of the Year, Levy, completed the clean sweep with a win on Saturday after posting an 11-dive score of 561.55. The junior's best dive came in the eighth round when he scored 72.85 points on a back 1 ½ somersault 2 ½ twist free with a 2.8 degree of difficulty. He also eclipsed 60 points in three other dives.
Lewis and Allen finished right behind Levy for the second-consecutive day with second and third place finishes, respectively. Lewis compiled an 11-dive score of 542.20, highlighted by a reverse 1 ½ somersault 2 ½ twist free with a 2.9 degree of difficulty that earned him 66.70 points. Allen finished with 523.55 points. His night was highlighted by a score of 72.00 on a back 2 ½ somersault pike with a 3.0 degree of difficulty.
Lightman turned in a seventh-place performance with a score of 458.90. The senior had two 50+ point dives, highlighted by a 58.80 on a back 2 ½ somersault tuck with a 2.8 degree of difficulty.
