Women's soccer ties Wooster

WOOSTER, Ohio-- Denison and Wooster played to a 1-1 tie on Wednesday afternoon at Carl Dale Field.  The tie keeps the Big Red unbeaten in North Coast Athletic Conference play at 3-0-1.  It also runs their current unbeaten streak to seven matches.

It was the Big Red who broke through with the first goal of the match.  It happened in the 40th minute when Jacquie Graham dribbled into the box and shot at the far left post.  The ball made it past Wooster keeper Carly Eppler for her eighth goal of the season.

Eight minutes into the second half, Wooster tied the match at 1-1 off a set piece.  Wooster's Erica White took the corner kick and headed toward the goal.  Liz Kantra's cross found the head of White who scored the equalizer.

In the 80th minute, Denison's Meg Wozniak took a header that resulted in a team save after Wooster's Krenare Rakoci kept the ball out of the goal.

In overtime, Denison outshot Wooster 4-2 and with six seconds remaining, Wozniak's shot was saved by Eppler, clinching the tie.

Denison held a 15-4 advantage in shots and an 8-5 lead in corner kicks.  Eppler finished with three saves while playing all 110 minutes. Wozniak and Graham paced DU in shot attempts with three.  Jessica Skelly also took two shots, sending one on-goal.

Denison is back in action on Saturday, October 15 when they host Kenyon College at 2 p.m. inside Piper Stadium.
