Beneroff's goal sends DU past Hiram

Box Score

Sofia Beneroff broke a 1-1 tie in the 75th minute helping Denison to a North Coast Athletic Conference win over Hiram College.  The victory runs Denison's winning streak to three and their unbeaten streak to five.

The Big Red scored the first goal of the match in the 15th minute of play when Grace Murray beat Hiram keeper Ally Green for her fourth goal of the season.  DU finished the first half with a 5-2 advantage in shot attempts.

In the second half, Hiram's Abby Rowe tied the match with a shot from just outside the box.  That came just two minutes after Denison keeper Jenny Herold saved a shot by Hiram's Katelyn Mauch.

After the goal by Rowe, Beneroff entered the match for Anne Denz and that move paid off 10 minutes later when Beneroff scored her first goal of the season off an assist by Jacquie Graham.

Beneroff's goal proved to be the final shot attempt of the match for both teams.  The Big Red held a 9-5 lead in shots and the two teams tied 2-2 in corner kicks.

Herold finished with two saves and improved to 5-3-3 on the season.

Denison returns to the pitch on Saturday, October 8 when they host Allegheny College at 12 p.m.
