Denison falls to No. 26 Tufts

The Denison men's tennis team began its west coast swing with an 8-1 loss to No. 26 Tufts on Monday afternoon in Claremont, Calif.  Despite the final score the match was competitive as one doubles match went to tiebreaker and three singles matches went to a decisive third set.

In doubles, Denison's top duo of Grant Veltman and Casey Cempre fell to Nik Telkedzhiev and Brian Tan, 9-8 (3).  That win would allow the Jumbos to advance to singles play with a 3-0 lead.

At third singles, Jackson O'Gorman-Bean battled back after a 6-2 loss in the opening set to win 6-4 in the second.  His opponent, Rob Jacobson, would take the point with a 6-2 win in the third.

Denison would get a win in the fifth flight as Jeffery LoDuca pulled out a third set super tiebreaker win over Griffin Brockman.  LoDuca took the point 5-7, 6-4, 10-7.  At No. 6, Owen Smith lost a three-set battle with Rohan Gupte, 4-6, 6-4, 10-7.

The Big Red drop to 2-5 on the year and will look to bounce back on Tuesday when they face Sewanee in Claremont, Calif.
