The 26th ranked Denison men's tennis team kicked off its indoor portion of the schedule on Friday night against No. 17 Chicago at the Paramount Tennis Complex in Westlake, Ohio. The Big Red would pick up one point in singles and one in doubles before falling to the Maroons, 7-2.
In singles play, Denison's Jackson O'Gorman-Bean defeated Sven Kranz, 3-6, 6-2, 7-6(2) while playing out of the third flight.
Denison's doubles win came from the team of Grant Veltman and Casey Cempre. The knocked off the region's top-ranked duo of David Liu and Deppak Sabada, 8-4.
Four of Chicago's six singles players were ranked in the most recent central regional rankings. Denison falls to 0-2 while the Maroons improve to 2-1. Denison will return to action on February 21 when they take on Mary Washington and North Carolina Wesleyan in Fredericksburg, Va.
