Denison sophomore Sarah Lopez competed this weekend at the NCAA Division III Diving Regional and finished 16th out of 30 competitors on the 1-meter board and 26th on the 3-meter. Lopez posted an 11-dive score of 421.00 on Friday and a score of 395.20 on Saturday.
Lopez posted four dives that garnered over 40 points on Friday. Her best dive was her fifth, an inward two somersault tuck that scored a 58.80 with a 2.8 degree of difficulty. Her second-best score came on her first dive, a forward two and a half somersault pike.
First-place went to Maria Zarka of Kenyon who totaled a score of 523.90. Sarah Sheridan of Hope placed second with 501.65 while Sara Axness of Wisconsin Eau-Claire took third with 496.80 points.
