Men hold serve at NCAC's

Damon Rosenburg won the 100 breaststroke for the fourth straight year, headlining three more Big Red winners at the 2015 North Coast Athletic Conference Championship.  Through 13 events, Denison leads Kenyon College by 77.5 points.  Denison has scored 1,276 points while Kenyon trails with 1,198.5 points.  DePauw sits in third with 698 points while fourth place belongs to Wabash with 677 points.

Rosenburg and Denison's Al Nennig would lock down the top two spots in the 100 breaststroke as Rosenburg finished in 54.79 while Nennig touched in 55.75.  Rosenburg is the second swimmer in conference history to be a four-time winner of the 100 breaststroke.  This also runs his career conference championship total to six which is tied for 10th most in Denison men's swimming history.

While Rosenburg kept a streak alive, DU junior Andrew Rich snapped a five year drought in the 100 butterfly.  Rich would post a winning time of 48.65 for his first individual conference championship and his third overall title.  Rich is Denison's first champion in the 100 fly since Chris Bagley in 2009.  Conrad Wuorinen (sixth), Ryan Fleming (eighth), Kevin Brinegar (11th) and Jason Wesseling (15th) rounded out the race for Denison.

The night got off to an electric start as Wuorinen, Nennig, Rich and Fleming set a new pool record with a winning time of 1:29.55 in the 200 medley relay.  This was Denison's third-straight win in the event.  Fleming close out the victory with a 19.86 split in his 50 free.

Six Big Red swimmers would land in the top-15 in the standings of the 200 free, led by last night's 200 IM champ, Joe Brunk.  He took third in 1:39.46 while Max Howes followed in fourth with 1:40.14.  Stuart Hohm (1:40.50) occupied seventh while Ben Burdick (10th), Franz Kabelka (13th) and Brinegar (15th) added some critical points to the Denison total.

In the 100 backstroke, Wesseling earned and all-conference third-place finish in 50.00.  Max Howes and Alec Carlson finished in positions 10 and 11, respectively.

The second race of the night was the 400 IM which saw Jack Lindell log an all-conference finish (third) in 3:58.81.  Aaron Saccurato touched fifth and Timmy Smith took seventh.

The Denison team closed out the night with a second place finish in the 800 free led by Saccurato, Hohm, Howes and Brunk combined for a time of 6:41.69.

Denison will look to lock up its eighth-straight NCAC title on Saturday.  Preliminaries will begin at 10 a.m. with finals following at 6:30 p.m.
