Denison falls to Ohio State

Denison made the short trip to Columbus for a dual meet against Ohio State.  The Buckeyes would finish with a 210.5-85.5 win over the Big Red.

DU ended the night with 15, top-5 finishes in the dual meet from the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion.  Carolyn Kane picked up Denison's only win as she tied for first place in the 50 free with a time of 24.05.  Kane would also turn in a second place finish In the 100 fly in 58.03 and a runner-up showin in the 200 free relay along with Campbell Costley, Erin Hudson and Mary Van Leuven.

Marissa Bednarek logged a trio of second place swims in the 100 breaststroke (1:04.65), 200 breaststroke (2:21.91) and the 200 individual medley (2:10.99).  Her times in both breaststroke events were NCAA 'B' cuts.

Costley would go on to finish second in the 500 free (5:02.03) and third in the 200 free (1:53.65). Fellow distance freestyler Taylor Johns was the runner-up in the 1,000 free after touching in 10:15.26.

Senior Ashley Yearwood took second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 58.57. Halli Garza finished fourth in the 200 fly (2:07.02) while Libby Dalziel and Van Leuven finished fourth in the 200 back and fifth in the 100 free, respectively.

In diving, Emma Weber placed fifth in the 3-meter with a score of 207.08. Eva Vivero would take fifth on the 1-meter board after a score of 197.63.

Denison will return to the pool on Saturday, Nov. 7 when they host Xavier University at 1 p.m. from the Trumbull Aquatics Center.
